It was a random request from a client* that set this whole thing off, coupled with a desire to build a space away from the algorithms.

The client asked me to take a look at one of their company websites with a view to me helping them with a bit of a redesign. First thing I did was check the source code to see what platform it was built on. I know my way around Wordpress and SquareSpace but this one was built on Framer. I'd never built anything on Framer… I'd never even heard of Framer.

So I went down a Framer rabbit hole and three months of long weekday evenings and weekend afternoons later I have a new personal website complete with a print shop. This wasn't on my bingo card for 2026.

And all the while I've been building it I've also been getting my hands dirty with gelliplate printmaking and being quite chuffed with the results, and other people seemed to like what I'm doing too. Without wanting to sound too 'woo woo' a little voice inside me has been pushing me along - telling me to keep going.

I haven't figured out if I'm having a bit of a Kevin Costner in 'Field of Dreams' moment or whether delirium is just another side effect of menopause. I guess time will tell. The full story of my decision to flee the algorithms is in this post.

Obviously for the time being I need somewhere to tell people about this site so I'm not quitting the socials completely just yet. But my ultimate goal is to make this a spot for a bit more human connection, and somewhere I can sell the occasional print… I'm gonna need something to keep me going when I hit retirement age so this seems like a good place to start.
